Protein french toast!

It is so important to feel satisfied when you eat a meal-otherwise you are almost immediately turning to something else to make up for your decision. Creating healthy versions of traditionally unhealthy foods provide the comfort and satisfaction to battle your cravings and keep you energized.

Case and point...Protein french toast.
For those of you who have banished bread from your diet, consider buying Ezekiel bread. It is a bread made from seeds and grains and is not processed or contain fillers and preservatives. It is found in the frozen section of your grocery store as with no preservatives it is highly perishable. This is my absolute favourite. I buy the sesame or plain variety and it contains 80 calories a slice, 0.5g fat and 11g carbs. There is a cinnamon raison flavour that is amazing! The brand also makes buns and wraps.

I used 2 pieces of Ezekiel bread
(double the recipe if cooking for 2,
you can get 3 pieces out of this one)

1/2 c. almond milk
1 scoop vanilla whey protein powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1tsp vanilla extract
1/4 c egg whites

Whisk all together and soak bread well

Heat 1 tsp coconut oil in a frying pan on high

Transfer bread carefully into searing hot pan and turn the heat down
Cook about 3-4 minutes depending on your preference on each side

You can sprinkle with whatever topping you like!
I like to use some additional coconut oil and pure maple syrup sometimes or almond butter.

Try my jam recipe for a quick nutritious alternative.

For the jam:
 1/2 c frozen raspberries
1 package stevia
1tsp cinnamon
1tsp chia seeds

Microwave for 1 minute,
stir well and put on your delicious toast!

Enjoy!
